August 10–14, 2026, marks the Night of Shooting Stars in the Hortobágy. The highlight of August is the Perseid meteor shower, and this year we can once again witness the “Tears of Saint Lawrence” — the Perseid meteors arriving from the direction of the constellation Perseus, offering an excellent evening program for stargazing.
The unique conditions of the Hortobágy Dark Sky Park further enhance the experience, as light pollution is minimal, allowing many more stars to be visible and making the meteor shower even more spectacular.
