The idea of the first horse competition in Hajdúszoboszló was born in 1981, as a respectful tribute to our horseman Hajdú ancestors and the traditions of the Hajdú people. The equestrian day, created with a strong intention to preserve traditions, has become one of the most significant summer events in Hajdúszoboszló over the past 40 years.
Over the decades, the Kösely Cup has preserved its core values: a prestigious competition, spectacular accompanying programs, and an excellent leisure opportunity for the whole family. Since 2020, one of its main goals has been to promote traditional Hungarian horse breeds and national equestrian culture, as well as to strengthen national identity.
Visitors can taste local producers’ products, purchase crafts from local artisans, and discover regional values. They can also experience folk culture through handicraft workshops and traditional dance houses.
Our 45th event is an important occasion for strengthening national identity and the connection to Hajdú traditions, organized through the cooperation of several institutions and organizations.
